Leasowe Castle – Wedding Venue

Leasowe Castle – Wedding Venue

Recently we popped along to the open day at Leasowe castle when they had an open day with the rooms dressed up for weddings and showing details like the chair covers with colours available and table decorations etc.. It was especially good to see the Star Chamber as we are looking forward to a wedding here very soon so it was an ideal opportunity. The Star Chamber is used for civil ceremonies and is a beautiful wood panelled cosy room, which can accommodate wedding parties for up to 50 people so ideal for the smaller intimate wedding. The Star chamber, so called as its ceiling is studded with golden stars was originally a dining-room and library. It was fitted out by Sir Edward Cust in 1836 with the original panelling from the Star Chamber in the Old Exchequer Buildings at Westminster. Four old tapestries depicting the four seasons complement the room. The ivy-covered arch is optional.

The Victoria Suite is newly re-furbished, gorgeous colours and very decadent looking with the feather table-top decorations. Of course brides can arrange own decor but its one less thing to worry about when planning your special day. The Victoria Suite has its own private bar, dance floor and toilets nearby. Capacity is for 70 and up to 110 for the evening. Its an upstairs room and has lovely view overlooking the grounds. An ante room can be used to receive your guests and serve an evening buffet.

Victoria Suite

The largest suite is the Northumberland and Ballroom suites, capacity from 70 – 220 for the day, with itsroom dividers opened, and up to 240 for the evening function. A light airy room, plenty of natural light from the windows, so great for us photographers! Beautiful table decorations available, they really take care of all the details for you so you can just enjoy your special day.

Gemma and Sean Pre-Wedding Shoot Leasowe Castle

Gemma and Sean Pre-Wedding Shoot Leasowe Castle

Its was a lovely sunny afternoon and time to meet up with Gemma and Sean for a get to know you and pre-wedding shoot session. We had previously met Gemma when she booked us for her wedding  photography  but had yet to meet with Sean. They are  a super couple and we quickly put them at their ease as we walked around their chosen venue of Leasowe Castle and went through some poses and candid shots with them. Any fears that Sean wouldn’t smile easily were soon dispelled, they were just so natural and happy with each other, it was such a pleasure to see. We find these little sessions a really important part of the pre-wedding preparations which is why we include it in our photography packages.  Images will be used on  mini business cards and made available for wedding guests, giving our contact details and on-line gallery instructions for perusal of Gemma and Shaun’s wedding images.  We are really looking forward to their wedding in a few weeks time. For now some of the images taken this aftternoon.

Leasowe Castle

Leasowe Castle

Leasowe Castle is currently proving to be a popular wedding venue – Pixsmiths have just received a booking for October this year for the wedding of Gemma and Sean and have also seen clients for a wedding here in March next year. Leasowe Castle receives excellent reviews for functions and we are looking forward to being here. Its a lovely location near to the golf course and coastal promenade which make for a great backdrop. The castle has quite a history, originally built in 1593 by Ferdinando, the 5th Earl of Derby. Its not a majestic castle, so don’t expect a fortress on a hill, surrounded by a moat! Extra towers, wings, turrets and outbuildings have been added over many years, forming its present spread out structure. However there are excellent facilities for weddings with several suites available for wedding breakfasts and gardens surrounding the outside. Plenty of space for photography outdoors, weather permitting. The Star Chamber is used for civil ceremonies and is a beautiful wood panelled cosy room, which can accommodate wedding parties for up to 50 people so ideal for the smaller wedding. Its going to be lovely to shoot a ceremony and wedding breakfast taking place in such a historic beautiful location, we can hardly wait.

Leasowe Castle hads an open day coming up on the 25th August when rooms, including the Star Chamber and the newly furbished Victoria Suite were dressed for weddings. So if you are interested in Leasowe Castle for your wedding venue then come and check it out and if you need a photographer give us a call, we would be delighted to provide a quote for you.
