All You Need is Love and a dog for a West Kirby Wedding !
All our weddings are special to us and our couples. We love to travel for destination weddings but equally a home West Kirby wedding is wonderful. In fact our bride is our neighbour across the road and thanks to our next door neighbour put us in touch!
So we were extra delighted to have an oh so local wedding and that Ruth and Simon shopped locally for their wedding suppliers. We couldn’t be much closer! It was literally round the corner to the hairdressers at Rooney Ponton, across the road for the bridal preps and then up the road to St Bridgets for the church service and a cake and prosecco local reception in the Church Hall afterwards. Flowers were from Eden Floral Designs who had cleverley used the tartan used at Ruth’s hen do into her bouquet and the buttonholes. Ruth’s bridal gown with its leg revealing front split was from Opulence in West Kirby.
Later we travelled a bit further down the road to Lower Heswall to Sheldrakes, so beautifully situated on the Dee Estuary for the evening speeches and party. Perfect venue for a reception and staff so accomodating not to mention the tasty elegant food. The room had been beautifully bedecked out by Ruth and her girls and balloons supplied by local West Kirby shop Party Paraphernalia.
The story of how Ruth and Simon met – walking their dogs along the prom in West Kirby was evident throughout the day with cute retro pictures, the cake topper and the plaque on the top table saying “All you Need is Love …and a dog. An amusing poem about Love (dog) was highlight of the speeches. Ruth is a runner (check out those legs!) and recently ran the Great Northern Rub, training Simon to run with her, adorned in a tutu and a ball and chain…typifying the fun loving people they are.
A Trickle of Happiness….
So many delightful original ideas and details went into the day, I must say Mim, Ruth’s daughter had a fantastic yet simple idea of setting up a guest book using personalised postcards for guests to write their messages on which would then be posted throughout their first year as “trickle of happiness”, so inventive and I know will be really appreciated.
So delighted that Ruth and Simon’s day was just want they wanted and they are delighted with their images, portraying their love for one another. So happy we got a special meaningful shot for them on their West Kirby promenade bench..the sun rays bursting through the clouds was just one of those perfect cannot be planned moments.
Ruth and Simon thank you for giving us such a privilege to capture your wedding and we wish you much continued happiness.
Here just a few highlights from the many of their images to tell their wedstory. Enjoy x
How cute are these little bottle people from www.littlebottles.co.uk !
Just perfect when we can get an impromptu spur of the moment sunset as guests are mingling before the speeches
Autumnal Brook Meadow Hotel Wedding
Who doesn’t love an autumn wedding? Soulmates Helen and Mark planned just such a day for their Brook Meadow Hotel Wedding. With beautiful grounds at this time of year, even if a bit wet you can always find places and good backdrops of colour.
Preps at the bride’s home, a lovely relaxed time with her sister as bridesmaid and Leah their adorable miracle daughter as a flower girl. Helen was keen to have pics at home before she left with her family so was ready well in time before we had to leave for the men at the venue. So lovely to get these shots for them , it doesn’t often happen unless getting ready at the ceremony venue.
First time we have covered a ceremony at Brook Meadow Hotel and what a gorgeous elegant room it is too, perfect for an elegant civil ceremony and then out for pictures before the wedding breakfast. As always on a wedding day schedules are flexible as timings may go astray but we just go with the flow of events and capture the stories and moments around us just as our couples love. The registrars were wonderful at calming any nerves and had amusing stories to tell if a hint of tears appeared beforehand. Mark’s sons did him proud as his best men, impeccably well mannered and gave such heartfelt speeches – yes I was crying again as I often do at weddings! It was hilarious to see Mark’s face when he saw the size of his haribo sweetie jar compared to all the others and oh spot the lego theme going on – the cake topper was so cute!
Mark and Helen so happy you had a wonderful relaxed day with your loved ones and thank you for letting us capture your memories. Much continued happiness coming your way. Sandy and Dave x
Elegance and Sunshine at The Quay Hotel Deganwy Wedding
We at Pixsmiths Creative Photography had been looking forward to this day ever since the Valentine’s Engagement Shoot with our couple. So happy a sunny September wedding day arrived for Vicky and Mike at the wonderfully situated Quay Hotel Deganwy. Located right on the waterfront and with the sun shining had French Riviera feel to the day!
Preps at the hotel and a church ceremony across the level crossing and up the hill to the quaint church of All Saints.
An elegant reception ensued back down at the hotel, guests milling outside for drinks before the wedding breakfast, everyone having a fabulous day. Vicky looked stunning in her crystal encrusted wedding dress her cream, green and white bouquet just suited this elegant wedding perfectly.

Twilight Wedding: Holiday Inn Hoylake: Emma and Keith
Emma and keith have been together a while now so this was a long awaited for day and indeed a lovey inimate family day for them.
Was quite emotional with Emma and Keith’s boys involved during the ceremony with passing over the rings
Emma really enjoyed her “Pink and Bling” day …bridesmaids looked truly scrumptious in their bright pink dresses and Emma stunning in her figure hugging dress from Elegance. Hair by Louise Mortlock from the Wirral Wedding House Salon was fantastic. Marcos did them proud with the venue and dressed by Vikki of Sapphire Bepoke Events – a queenof bling herself!
…and those canapes looked delicious. the food is so scrummy here.
Emma and Keith we wish you many more happy days to come and thank you for asking us to capture your moments xx

Inglewood Manor Wedding: Sophie and Graham
Sophie and Graham have been together for several years and this was a long waited for day.
A day of sunshine and full of emotion for their wedding at Inglewood Manor.
Bridal preparations were in the beautiful bridal suite and being on same site as ceremony Sandy could stay to get details up to the last minute. Sophie looked stunning in her dress and hair was immaculate from Christopher Terrence Millea
Sophie made her way down to her waiting groom on the arms of her brother (he was quite overcome when he saw his beautiful sister!) for a beautiful ceremony, good tasty food as always at Inglewood Manor and impeccable service, and entertaining speeches followed on
Fab entertainment with Mike the Magician and Tequila Band to kick off the evening fun meant a great party spirit ensued for the rest of the evening with congas and Sophie dancing on guest shoulders in her satin pj’s – one of our most memorable party pics to date!
Congratulations Sophie and Graham, we loved being with you on your day and wish you every happiness for the future. Sandy and Dave xx

Mike was smoking!
A picture of a quaint authentic Italian seaside town, Santa Maria, or twinkle town as I later learnt its affectionate name, tugged at my travel-prone heartstrings. Booked a holiday here…and then just a short while later The Secret Retreat workshop was launched. I had to go, simply could not miss this opportunity with 3 fabulous photographers I’ve admired for a while Claire Penn, Andrea Ellison and Lucy Woodrow in this special place. No lie it sold with an hour … …but yay I got a place!!
As we were flying in to Naples I took some shots of islands just offshore Naples, I knew it wasn’t Capri…. Mental note to google map later.
So there we were 30 girls all mixing well and having a great time in the sunshine, eating pizza, sunbathing by the pool, we had a party night with music, dancing and surprise fireworks…..oh yes and we did get t to shoot in two amazing palaces with real couples head over heels in love with each other and meet the Prince and Princess of Belmonte who were so hospitable to us. What more could we want!
Each day a leader set up a styled shoot and gave an informative talk and exercises to help with the business planning side of things, something for everyone whatever level. Even with many years’ experience but I craved new inspiration, new creativity and new guidance on branding and marketing, always developing.
I can honestly say I got all this out of it and so much more – really cannot thank ALL the girls enough for this experience. Valuable time was also spent networking and bouncing ideas off each other. Special thanks to Mandy the creative expert from Saddleworth Shindigs for all the goodies she used was in detail heaven! And to the florist and make up artist who did a fabulous work on our amazing couples Paul and Bev and Luigi and Antonia. Extra special thanks to Julie McKenzie and daughter Emily of My Secret Italy they really are the best wedding planners her and go the extra mile for you– can appreciate how much hard work goes into organising such an event, often having to make impromptu changes on the day.
Words are inadequate to fully sum up this amazing amazing experience, we all received motivational kick up the backsides and I know not only myself but everybody else will be buzzing from this magical workshop and putting things into practice for a good few months yet.
I dared to dream ….and my dream is coming true I will be back here in May 2016 for a wedding….and as for those islands I discovered it was Ischia and Procdia…places I wanted to visit on honeymoon 30 years ago …and now we are in less than 2 weeks time carrying on the love affair with Italy.
Santa Maria in the summer
