History of The Mouse at Brimstage

Cosy and Kitsch cutesy The Mouse at Brimstage is nestled in the idyllic rural countryside at the center of the Wirral Penninsula
Its believed to have been built between the 12th century and 14th century, hence making it the second oldest building on Merseyside.- after Birkenhead Priory.
Brimstage Hall and  Tower dates back to 1175 and was originally enclosed by a moat and high embankment.
Modifications were made in the 16th century, and further in the 19th century. when a north wing was added.

The Mouse at Brimstage now sits in Brimstage court and is renowned for its food – a handy stop off after visiting the craft centres in the courtyard.
Since 1962 The Mouse has been designated as a Grade I listed building – so truly a romantic, rustic, cute place to say I do.

Saying I do’s at The Mouse at Brimstage Outdoors

If you want to get married outdoors surrounded by quirky sheep, frogs and cows on haybales or chairs is your cup of tea then The Mouse is definitely for you.
Weather permitting the garden area is a beautiful colorful setting and perfect for guests to enjoy the gardens before with a drink from the ribbon-bedecked bar.

Outdoor wedding ceremonies used to be inside the bandstand but now a permanent structure overhead is not required
The garden can accomodate 200 guests.  Oh and bonus you can bring your doggies too!  Got to love a fur baby friendly venue
The seating is arranged in front of the garden bandstand with cows and gnomes watching on.
The bridal party will enter the gardens via the conservatory area,

So many nooks and crannies to have pictures taken in the gardens and orchards too – with beautiful colours at varying times of the year.
The fabulous team at Brimstage can bespoke your day, personalised to you.

First Wedding in Chapel at The Mouse At Brimstage

Recently at Christmas time, the Chapel was used for its first wedding at The Mouse at Brimstage.
Brimstage Mouse’s first known occupants, Sir Hugh Hulse and his wife, were granted the right to construct a private chapel in 1398.
How amazing that this historic chapel is now licensed for weddings.  Suitable for small intimate weddings.
Let’s take a peek inside.

How cosy does it look! A variety of uplighters can be used to suit your colour scheme or white light can be used for simplicity.
The window sills tend themselves to a profusion of candles to add to the ambiance.
An adjacent cosy lounge and bar area is a great place to have a pre-wedding drink

It can seat up to 65. Top table is ususally at the far end,but of course can be customised

The conservatory area is connected to the restaurant.  Time to mingle here after the wedding breakfast or head out to the garden.
No decoration is required,  its already prettily decked with hanging ribbons and quirky birdacages, bicycle, love signs and even a paiano.
Space in here for your cake table and for cutting the cake afterwards.

This space is also lovely for babyshowers or afternoon teas.

Proposal Photographers Captures Emotional Port Sunlight Proposal

What an end to this crazy year of 2022 once again being secret proposal photographers to capture a beautiful emotional marriage proposal!
Aidon messaged us whilst we were in an A & E queue with a poorly relative.  It certainly cheered me up and my mind was racing, so wanted to shoot this moment.

We worked out some timings and met Aidon a couple of days before the proposal shoot and hatched our plan.  Early afternoon of New Years’ Eve was decided – not wanting the cliche of when clocks chimed midnight. The location was set for the historic Bridge over the Dell in Port Sunlight.  This popular sandstone bridge in the historic model village of Port Sunlight is recorded with National Heritage List for England.

We checked angles on the renowned Bridge over the Dell in Port Sunlight and suggested which step would be best.
We agreed the best plan was to be an innocent tourist admiring the architecture in this beautiful Wirral village. – bushes are a bit thin here in the winter!
The soon bride-to-be Stefania had only flown in the night before from Italy and was enjoying a midday walk here.

The day dawned a bit damp and dismal but we dodged the rain with careful consideration of the weather forecast.
Aidon had his plan by saying,  “oh look at what’s under the bridge”!  As she turned and peered down over the bridge over, quick as a flash Aidon dropped to his knees and pulled out the ring box. He opened it up, ready to ask that all-important question to his girlfriend. Stef turned round and there were squeals of delight and surprise.
Made me so emotional too! Of course, she said Yes!

More delighted squeals were uttered when Aidon pointed out we had been photographing from a discrete distance too!
We captured a few more pictures of the delighted couple, Aidon now at ease after his nerves, before they departed to a planned celebratory lunch.
Can only imagine the happiness and joy when they told their families on New Year’s Eve,
We absolutely love covering these moments and taking some couple portraits afterward too.

A few groups and portraits and then just party time and dancing.  we met the brief and our couple was delighted with the results
It was fabulous to see everyone having such a great time and joining in the party spirit.
The  DJ and acoustic guitar singer  was a huge factor in this and got the party going straight after the outdoor confetti shot.

WILLASTON VILLAGE HALL HANDFASTING WEDDING

A Long Expected Lord of the Rings Wedding and Handfasting

A Village Hall wedding provides so much scope for DIY weddings and putting your own personal stamp on your day
This is exactly what Kiah and Freddie did for their amazing Lord of the Rings gothic wedding with a handfasting and jumping the broom ceremony.

Bear in mind it takes oodles of planning and dedication and help from your friends and family.
Fortunately, Freddie and Leah were supported magnificently by their bridal team and family.
They all knew what had to be done on the day and carried it out willingly.  Their obvious longstanding friendship and wanting the best for their day were so evident and heartwarming.

We really connected well with Kiah and Freddie before the wedding on a pre-wed shoot.
On our initial chats, we also discovered a shared birthday and they lived in the same road that we did as newlyweds.
It was obvious they are soul mates are a bit quirky and love the outdoors.

Willaston Memorial Village Hall Wedding

The Village Hall in Willaston is licensed for legal ceremonies and receptions
It’s a great space for smaller weddings – this one was about 50 guests and was just right
It has a bar area in another part of the building, kitchen facilities, and a little garden area at the rear – perfect for those who want to DIY or have caterers come in.
The main function room is light and airy

Willaston Village memorial hall set up for a wedding

Lord of the Rings Theme

As you can see by the font used for the signs and table place names there was a definite Lord of the Rings theme going on
Lotr eleven green enamel badges were a fab touch too
A JRR Tolkein saying was proudly and fittingly placed on the wedding ceremony table.
The hand-fasting cord placed on the table matched the decor on the broomstick used for the pagan ceremony after the legal one

A colourful wedding with the bride Kiah wearing a beautiful black dress and bridesmaids with hair colour to match their dresses too.
The guys also looked dapper in their purple and green suits – all so coordinated.

A joyful legal ceremony followed by a beautiful and moving handfasting ceremony performed by Kiah’s Dad
Beautiful heartfelt vows were made and then jumping the broom as they litereally ran out to their new life

also how cute are those jammy dodger cufflinks – who doesn’t love jammy dodgers

Willaston Village Hall Reception

Time for mingling and a few groups and portraits then it was time for a Vegan feast and  entertaining speeches – a combined effort by the Bridal party
Again so wonderful to see how much these guys wanted the best day ever for their friends Kiah and Freddie.
Evening fun, dancing and cocktails ensued for a memorable evening.

One Fine Day Wedding

One Fine Day Wedding

ONE FINE DAY CITY CENTRE LIVERPOOL WEDDING

It certainly was One fine day wedding day for this lovely couple’s wedding in Liverpool
So relaxed and easygoing, especially as literally only met in person before the ceremony.  We connected straight away with Aimee and Matthew.
Beaming smiles all around, nothing fazed them and were so accommodating to all.

Friends and family (well most as some of Aimee’s family were in Australia) met at St Georges Hall for the civil ceremony.
Emotional moments as Aimee entered the ceremony and during the vow.

A few groups and portraits by the colonnades of St Georges hall and then the wedding bus took them to their venue – well almost!

Yes we made good use of the advertising banner by St Johns market in Liverpool city centre

One Fine Day Wedding Reception

The coach actually stopped at Oh Me Oh My – a sister venue – and guests not knowing just got off and walked to One Fine Day.
The coach driver did catch up and apologise and offered to bring the bus around but the short walk was fine.
Serendipity though as it gave us an opportunity for some city centre  shots as we made our way to One Fine Day

bride and groom at entrance to One Fine Day Exchange St. Liverpool

One Fine Day is a hidden gem of an event space in the city centre.  Perfect for an elegant intimate wedding reception.
Our first visit here and hope to be back again.

On one side is a seating area for guests to relax with drinks.
Between the high columns, a long table was set out, so prettily decorated with parcels bedecked with ribbons and flowers.  It looked so elegant and chic.
An upper mezzanine can provide more space if needed for larger weddings and also provides an overhead view of the wedding breakfast and speeches.

Aimee and Matthew and your families thank you for being so open and welcoming.  It was a pleasure to spend a few hours with you as you celebrated.
