A Williamson Art Gallery wedding what a first for this little gem of an art museum and cafe in Birkenhead Pam and Paul were blessed with being the first couple to have a Williamson Art Gallery wedding in Gallery 4 A real privilege for Pixsmiths to capture their day, Such a unique new venue on the Wirral Wedding scene. A wedding setting with the backdrop of the Battle of Waterloo is certainly different!
A December wedding but fortunately for Pam and Paul, mild for the time of year so pics could be taken outside. No bridal preps required so we met with the groom and guests arriving for a few family groups first. Soon it was time for Pam and her bridesmaids to appear, arriving in Classic Bridal Cars gorgeous Bentley’s. Mark is like another bridesmaid for you with all his extra touches showing you how to hold your dress as you get out of the car. Guests enjoyed waiting in the warm cafe area having a cuppa before the ceremony, having arrived by coach in good time.
Pam and Paul had an eventful ceremony, lovely poems by 3 of their guests and their daughter encouraging them to talk louder for their vows! Afterwards more tea and biscuits whilst the group photos and a quick few portraits taken in the galleries. Mark again was great at helping with the groups and engaging with the crowd – oh and the baby Bentley ever popular for a few pics!
Onto the Manor Restaurant in Greasby for the well more of a party than a reception – just what this couple wanted. The function suite is in the original millhouse – ideal for a small wedding celebration. The favours also had the Art Gallery connection – jars of Honey from their gift shop So just one simple speech from the groom and no first dance just a great time with friends and family. Oh and guests trying to outdo each other with Christmas jumpers …but no one expected the groom’s evening attire! Check out the pictures below!
Pam also had an ingenious dress change up, the lace overlay and train removed from her dress which was then teamed with a little lack bolero jacket. So clever it looked like a different dress but wasn’t, an elegant dress choice.
Pam and Paul so glad you had a wonderful day and it was worth the wait! May you enjoy much continued happiness love Sandy and Dave x

Marcos New York Italian Hoylake Wedding: Kate and Tim
We just love weddings at Marcos New York Italian Hoylake. Its so local to us we are often happy t do short hour weddings here,.just like this one for Kate and Tim. Love the mirrors and golden coppery tomes of the room, makes for fab colours and reflective shots. We covered just prior to ceremony, the ceremony itself, groups and portraits on location and then the speeches after the meal. Spot the familiar face amongst the bridesmaids! Venue wedding coordinator Carrie had the honour of being one of the bridesmaids, being Tim’s sister. Its always an emotional time during ceremonies and Kate did warn us that she might get a little choked ..but we always love to capture the moments of the day Needless to say everything ran smoothly and a wonderful time was had by all. The weather was mostly fine, we just dodged around a rain shower before they went in for the wedding breakfast. The gardens are compact but good for group shots in front of the venue and portraits in the greenery of the garden..with longer hours its just a short ride to Red Rocks or Hoylake promenade. We popped back just to cover their dance for half an hour or so for them too. Many congratulations Kate and Tim, wishing you much happiness xx

Winter weddings and dark venues provide their own unique challenges and we wanted to expand our skills with new lighting techniques and chance to try new things out. We like to constantly update our skill sets and portfolio without experimenting on an actual wedding so Jonny Draper’s trainging session “Are you afraid of the Dark” was an ideal opportunity. So a drizzzly Novemebr evening we found ourselves at the Belle Epoque in Knutsford, renowned for being a difficult dark venue. We were thrilled to discover that Sarah Sadler and her finance Rich would be modelling for us and generally being the loved up couple they are! Sarah herself is a fabulous photographer, she does such amazing, makeover, empowering Red Shoe Shoots – you really need to check out her site, read her about page and read real women’s stories…..so the shoe was on the other foot (pardon the pun!) and Sarah and Rich were in front of the camera, feeling a bit nervous and vulnerable…but everyone soon put them at ease. They were great and with Jonny explaiining and showing his simple lighting set ups we got some great shots …we even rocked the rain! Check out these shots!
So are you planning a winter wedding? Check your photographer is fully equipped, with lightig set ups and fast prime lenses, and skills to be adept for teh challenges of dark venues like The Belle Epoque and dark light to enable getting memorable shots for you. Ask to see examples of winter weddidngs from their portfolio and galleries.
A picture of a quaint authentic Italian seaside town, Santa Maria, or twinkle town as I later learnt its affectionate name, tugged at my travel-prone heartstrings. Booked a holiday here…and then just a short while later The Secret Retreat workshop was launched. I had to go, simply could not miss this opportunity with 3 fabulous photographers I’ve admired for a while Claire Penn, Andrea Ellison and Lucy Woodrow in this special place. No lie it sold with an hour … …but yay I got a place!!
As we were flying in to Naples I took some shots of islands just offshore Naples, I knew it wasn’t Capri…. Mental note to google map later.
So there we were 30 girls all mixing well and having a great time in the sunshine, eating pizza, sunbathing by the pool, we had a party night with music, dancing and surprise fireworks…..oh yes and we did get t to shoot in two amazing palaces with real couples head over heels in love with each other and meet the Prince and Princess of Belmonte who were so hospitable to us. What more could we want!
Each day a leader set up a styled shoot and gave an informative talk and exercises to help with the business planning side of things, something for everyone whatever level. Even with many years’ experience but I craved new inspiration, new creativity and new guidance on branding and marketing, always developing.
I can honestly say I got all this out of it and so much more – really cannot thank ALL the girls enough for this experience. Valuable time was also spent networking and bouncing ideas off each other. Special thanks to Mandy the creative expert from Saddleworth Shindigs for all the goodies she used was in detail heaven! And to the florist and make up artist who did a fabulous work on our amazing couples Paul and Bev and Luigi and Antonia. Extra special thanks to Julie McKenzie and daughter Emily of My Secret Italy they really are the best wedding planners her and go the extra mile for you– can appreciate how much hard work goes into organising such an event, often having to make impromptu changes on the day.
Words are inadequate to fully sum up this amazing amazing experience, we all received motivational kick up the backsides and I know not only myself but everybody else will be buzzing from this magical workshop and putting things into practice for a good few months yet.
I dared to dream ….and my dream is coming true I will be back here in May 2016 for a wedding….and as for those islands I discovered it was Ischia and Procdia…places I wanted to visit on honeymoon 30 years ago …and now we are in less than 2 weeks time carrying on the love affair with Italy.
