So September 19th would have been Chester Zoo Wedding day for Bethan’s and Carl. They held out as long as they could, even planned downsized numbers to conform to new guidelines.
Restrictions of time though, meaning less time to celebrate and for photos in between ceremony and meal led to the decision to eventually postpone. On one hand obvious disappointment for this couple. The other hand so honoured that having us shoot their Chester Zoo wedding was a major consideration to their decision.
So like a few other pre-wedding shoots this year, we opted to do a shoot on their would have been day and capture some beautiful images for them. Covid 19 is not going to spoil making memories! A wonderful opportunity to walk around the zoo and check out the areas they would like to use on their new day next Spring.
We have shot a couple of Chester of weddings before but there are always new things to see. The Oakfield has been updated since and a new Orangerie now graces the front of the venue going to be an amazing space for their wedding. The lions have moved to a new home in the zoo – no longer will their roars be heard during the ceremony or reception!
We enjoyed a good wander, the weather was just perfect, although a little bright at times. Plenty of nooks and crannies can be found Particularly enjoyed the Japanese and sunken garden areas. The giraffes and elephants were a big hit too.
After wandering around the Islands we let our couple has some time to themselves before they met up with family for a meal at the new Oakfields. So thank you for this day at the Zoo Bethan & Carl. So glad you could make the best of what could have been a difficult day. We look forward to the memories to be created next year. For now, enjoy your highlights from your Chester Zoo pre-wedding shoot.
had to see the meerkats of course, and squealed with delight when we saw the baby ones!
A Chester Zoo wedding photography day is relaxed with plenty of time for guests to explore part of the zoo before an afternoon tea. Later a Safari tour and then back for a BBQ before the evening fun starts. Quite different from a traditional wedding day ..and at Pixsmiths we love things a bit different!
This was just the type of day Jenna and Jonny wished for themselves and their guests at their Chester Zoo wedding at Oakfield House. The day was all on one site for us as Jenna and her bridesmaids got ready in an upstairs room in Oakfield House. It was great to be able to capture all the preparations and details whilst Dave could nip out and capture the groom shots.
Dad was overcome when he saw his daughter all dressed, just love capturing those shots when we can. Dad proudly walked his daughter down the short aisle in the ceremony room to the waiting Jonny. The room was cosy and decorated with bunting hand made crocheted by a relative
After the ceremony guests enjoyed tasty canapes of mini fish and chips and cottage pie ..they looked so delicious! They went down a treat as it would be a while before the afternoon breakfast which would be served in the same room as the ceremony.
A few formal groups and then guests enjoyed strolling around the zoo – ready entertainment on hand!
The room looked fabulous with a blue color scheme and little hand-painted animal place-cards accompanied by homemade chocolate animals When the Zoo closed its doors the wedding party was split into two groups for a safari tour with the Zookeepers.
it was dark when they arrived back so perfect time for a BBQ and then an evening party with live music from the Trunk Monkeys – how apt for the Zoo! The dance floor was packed and rocking to their music! Thank you, Jenna and Jonny, that we could share and capture your amazing day, much love xx
TIP! So sensible thing to do before a walking tour for your Chester Zoo wedding photography is to leave the heels behind and change into flat shoes!
Jenna loves Giraffes so its no surprise her wedding cake had them featured – very elegant zoo-themed cake, very fitting for the day ..and how cute is that cake topper!
