So the following day was to be the big day for Janine and Bryan – their much awaited for wedding day atop the Perrotti Tower in Santa Maria di Castellabate We had already met up in the UK for a scenic shoot at Hardcastle Crags during the bluebell season We could resist however capturing a few more shots of them enjoying the late afternoon sunshine in the beautiful setting of Santa Maria di Castellabate This authentic Italian fishing village with the old town looking down from the hill above has won a place in our hearts – this was a fourth visit to this little piece of paradise.
We had flown in that morning and enjoying a stroll around town – it was lovely to see a local wedding taking place at the church just below the main the main square too The steps leading down were beautifully decorated with flowers and a white runner. We watched the confetti cannons go off, obliterating the couple and listened to the fireworks going off (couldn’t really see them in daylight!) Really got us in wedding mode though . Some snazzy dresses being worn in town too, such style the Italians have!
Amway back to our own loved up couple. Just a few quick shots as a delicious pizza was calling! The sun was setting as we went to the restaurant Look out soon for the blog of the wedding day itself. You won’t want to miss that one!
Sunny Shades, Sunsets and Ice Cream at a Family Wedding
Pixsmiths, Sheldrakes wedding photographer, was delighted to cover this gorgeous family wedding. Romance blossomed on the local train platform for commuters Jen and Simon They have been together some 14 years now and have a beautiful family So now time to celebrate their love and commitment …not only with an eternity ring but a wonderful wedding!
The whole day had such a relaxed happy feel to the day, Sandy was in sparkly ring heaven with the gorgeous details. knowing Jen’s engagement ring was designed with a grandmother’s diamond was even more special.
Bridal preps just flowed with chat and natural pics of Jennie with her daughter Ruby being pampered by a good friend and makeup artist Zoey Ruby’s room just suited her to a T and made for some cute special detail shots for her too Zoey is the partner for Simon’s best man – the taller one. The shorter one is our couple’s son who later showed some great moves on the dance floor Meanwhile, the guys were getting ready at a nearby family home – it was great to be able to get both bride and groom preps captured.
Church Ceremony St Peter’s
The church – St Peter’s in Lower Heswall was packed for the ceremony. There were moist eyes as first the genteel minister led Ruby in followed by Jen and her proud Dad Jen walking towards her groom looks down to see her son standing by his side, her daughter looking on, on the other side and the groom’s sister wiping a tear from her eye A treasured, precious moment. Charlie and Ruby almost stole the show with their reading, the obvious family closeness was a real joy to see during the ceremony
Sheldrakes Wedding Reception
Afterwards whilst the bus did its first trip to nearby Sheldrakes we captured some family groups and a big group on the terrace at Sheldrakes as guests enjoyed the sunshine and canapes. The flowers supplied by Lyndaflora were stunning – the tables around the lower restaurant area were elegantly bedecked with tall vases with white and green flowers, simply stunning. Soon time for the meal and speeches – interrupted by the sound of the approaching Showtime Ice-cream van. Cue – kids streaming out and running down to get their ices – popular with adults too later on a hot day. Oh, I think some were keeping an eye on an important European final football game too, but will gloss over that :-/
Evening Party Sheldrakes Wedding Photography
The day soon followed into the evening, with cake cutting and dancing, look out for those special moves from Charlie doing the Floss dance. Everyone had a fantastic day, loved all the moments captured and seeing the joy on people’s faces. I said at the beginning of the day we were due a good sunset and Sheldrakes didn’t disappoint. The colors and the boatyard provided some most memorable images Jennie and Simon we wish you many many more years of happiness. Thank you for the privilege of capturing your day.
Please enjoy just a few highlights from the many love Sandy & Dave xx
The two best men!

All You Need is Love and a dog for a West Kirby Wedding !
All our weddings are special to us and our couples. We love to travel for destination weddings but equally a home West Kirby wedding is wonderful. In fact our bride is our neighbour across the road and thanks to our next door neighbour put us in touch! So we were extra delighted to have an oh so local wedding and that Ruth and Simon shopped locally for their wedding suppliers. We couldn’t be much closer! It was literally round the corner to the hairdressers at Rooney Ponton, across the road for the bridal preps and then up the road to St Bridgets for the church service and a cake and prosecco local reception in the Church Hall afterwards. Flowers were from Eden Floral Designs who had cleverley used the tartan used at Ruth’s hen do into her bouquet and the buttonholes. Ruth’s bridal gown with its leg revealing front split was from Opulence in West Kirby.
Later we travelled a bit further down the road to Lower Heswall to Sheldrakes, so beautifully situated on the Dee Estuary for the evening speeches and party. Perfect venue for a reception and staff so accomodating not to mention the tasty elegant food. The room had been beautifully bedecked out by Ruth and her girls and balloons supplied by local West Kirby shop Party Paraphernalia.
The story of how Ruth and Simon met – walking their dogs along the prom in West Kirby was evident throughout the day with cute retro pictures, the cake topper and the plaque on the top table saying “All you Need is Love …and a dog. An amusing poem about Love (dog) was highlight of the speeches. Ruth is a runner (check out those legs!) and recently ran the Great Northern Rub, training Simon to run with her, adorned in a tutu and a ball and chain…typifying the fun loving people they are.
A Trickle of Happiness….
So many delightful original ideas and details went into the day, I must say Mim, Ruth’s daughter had a fantastic yet simple idea of setting up a guest book using personalised postcards for guests to write their messages on which would then be posted throughout their first year as “trickle of happiness”, so inventive and I know will be really appreciated.
So delighted that Ruth and Simon’s day was just want they wanted and they are delighted with their images, portraying their love for one another. So happy we got a special meaningful shot for them on their West Kirby promenade bench..the sun rays bursting through the clouds was just one of those perfect cannot be planned moments.
Ruth and Simon thank you for giving us such a privilege to capture your wedding and we wish you much continued happiness. Here just a few highlights from the many of their images to tell their wedstory. Enjoy x
How cute are these little bottle people from www.littlebottles.co.uk !
Just perfect when we can get an impromptu spur of the moment sunset as guests are mingling before the speeches
